Services provided by Audio Media Services
Do you have some old reel-to-reel tapes in storage with family members talking, singing, playing music, or telling family histories? Have you ever thought of how much it would mean to your family or friends to be able to share those memories with those who may not have personally known the person or people on the tape? Is this something that has been on your mind to find out about doing, but haven't because you didn't know where to turn to for help? Well, you've finally come to the right place for answers.
Audio Media Services is your full-service Audio Archiving Resource Facility. We can play back and convert your old cassettes, microcassettes, 78 RPM records,
home made Phonocord records, old LP ref dubs, 8-track cassettes, reel-to-reel tapes, minidisc cartridges, DAT tapes,
stereo vinyl records - you name it - to digital audio CD.
We are all aware of the basic problems with the older forms of media. The fact is, they all have a very limited lifetime. Phonograph
records get scratched, cassette and reel-to-reel tapes get worn, stretched, or played out - can you count just how many times has an old (or new) cassette player has chewed up one of your favorite music tapes? Here's another question: How many phonograph record players have you seen lately that actually still work? We'd venture to say — not many, because these machines all need care and maintenance, and even when they are working well, the overall sound quality is poor and definitely lacking when compared with today's modern digital
compact disc, with its excellent sound and long shelf life.
Here's why you've come to the right place! Audio Media Service's collection of vintage playback machines is constantly being maintained and kept in top-notch working order. Our engineers and technicians are specifically trained in the art of copying source program information from old media. Your source media is set up, aligned, and played back on our equipment, and simultaneously re-recorded to hard disk in our state of the art digital recording environment. Your original source media materials remain unharmed for speedy return to your vault.
Once the original source audio is archived to disk, the potential for the enhancing and improving of sound quality becomes a viable option. Old records can be scratchy and dull sounding, and filled with pops and clicks, or actually skip in places. Worn tapes may have hiss or low noise along with the music or voice that has been recorded to them. Now is obviously the perfect time to improve - permanently - those newly captured audio files. Our state of the art digital filtering and dynamic enhancement equipment can clean up, improve the loudness and level, and in general maximize all of the artifacts and nuances of the source material's sound program, while removing the undesired noise and other unwanted
artifacts. Then, once the material has been processed, cleaned up and edited, we cut it to
audio CD — for you and your loved ones to have access to - anytime.
Isn't it time to stop putting this off? As time passes by, the old, worn media containing your precious memories
is continuing to decompose. Sooner than later, that source material may become unavailable
for playback on any machine, no matter how well maintained it is! Don't let any more time
slip away without addressing this urgent need. Now is the time to be able to share those
memories. Let Audio Media Services' Archiving Service preserve your family's heritage and history forever.
